Youth Counselling
Directive or non-directive counselling for young people experiencing social, emotional or behavioural issues. Young people are assisted to develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, improve self-esteem, resilience, coping skills and social skills and process hardship or trauma.
Adolescence is a unique stage of human development where individuals experience rapid growth and changes. These transformations are experienced physically, socially and cognitively as they try to figure out who they are and where they fit in.
Through counselling, we can assist young people with identifying triggers, build their confidence and resilience, provide strategies for calming the mind, setting and achieving goals, and recognising and processing their own emotions.
Teenagers commonly experience high levels of anxiety, doubt, dysregulation and self-consciousness when they start to explore their adult identity. They try to find ways to be comfortable with their rapidly changing social environments, which can create high levels of distress and anxiety. If they understand their thoughts, emotions and behaviours, they will understand their mental health.
Adolescents are welcome to engage in talk therapy, creative expression or games of their choice. Through these mediums, opportunities for learning Mindfulness, emotional regulation and the functions of their amazing body and brain arise.
By viewing life with a growth mindset, young people will come to understand that their potential is limitless. They are encouraged to embrace their uniqueness and use their passion, effort and positive attitude to learn, grow and become the best version of themselves.
